SMS opt-in — verbal consent script
This is the exact script WindTroubleshooter LLC uses to obtain consent before any mobile number is enrolled for lightning safety alerts.
Process
Recipients are employees and contractors of the wind-farm operator and are registered users of the WindTroubleshooter platform. Before any mobile number is enrolled, the site administrator asks the individual, in person, for verbal consent and reads the script below. Only after the individual answers Yes does the administrator enter that person's name and mobile number into the WindTroubleshooter admin console and assign the wind-farm sites they are responsible for. No number is added by any other route, and no number is ever purchased, rented or imported from a list.
Step 1 — the administrator asks
“Do you consent to receive lightning safety alert text messages from WindTroubleshooter LLC? Message frequency may vary. Standard Message and Data Rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. We will not share mobile information with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. Please say Yes or No.”
Step 2 — if the individual says “Yes”
“By stating Yes and providing your phone number, you agree to receive transactional text messages for lightning safety alerts from WindTroubleshooter LLC. Message frequency may vary. Standard Message and Data Rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. We will not share mobile information with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.”
Step 3 — the number is recorded and confirmed
Only now is the number entered in the admin console. A confirmation message is sent immediately to the number that was just enrolled:
“You have agreed to receive SMS lightning safety alert messages from WindTroubleshooter LLC. Msg freq may vary. Std msg & data rates apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
Ongoing messages — safety alerts only, no marketing
“WindTroubleshooter LIGHTNING ALERT — strikes within 30 mi of South Fork (closest ~22 mi). Follow your site safety procedures.”
“WindTroubleshooter — all clear at South Fork: no lightning inside 50 mi for 30+ minutes.”
Opt out and help — automated, always available
STOP → “You've been unsubscribed from WindTroubleshooter lightning alerts. Reply START to re-subscribe.”
HELP → “WindTroubleshooter lightning alerts. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, START to re-subscribe. Support: support@windtroubleshooter.com”
START is a re-subscribe keyword only. It restores alerts for a number that previously opted out and was already enrolled by verbal consent. It is not an enrolment route: texting START from a number that has never been enrolled does not subscribe it.
No mobile information will be shared or sold to third parties or affiliates for promotional or marketing purposes.
